SYMBOLS OF LEXEME – MAW 2023

In September 2023 as part of the MAW 2023 event (Middlesbrough Art Week) I created a durational painting over 8 days. Each day I would paint black symbols onto an 8m long canvas, and then paint back over the symbols with white paint before starting the process again.

The piece looks at human emotion and how those emotions or memories of them fade over time, but still shape the person we have become.
