In this portfolio you will find examples of Zero Gradients sculpture and installation artworks.
These have been combined together in to one album as often within his work the two become one and the same. Sculptural works created specifically to fit within their location, installations that have sculptural form. Linked back to the artists ethos of believing that a piece is not truly complete until it is in its place of exhibition; The combination and definition between sculpture and installation often become blurred in such a way that it makes it hard to see it as one or the other.
“My interest in sculptural and installation based artwork started to develop in around 2013, when I had a large studio space available to me and, due to its location on an industrial estate, and endless supply of interesting and discarded items. Having the space to be able to explore this idea as a concept, as a new way of producing work excited me and the studio began to become a working installation; Where my practice and its surroundings began to become the same, pieces created, positioned and then new works built within their space.
Upon going to University at Teesside in 2014 this area of my practice was encouraged and allowed me to explore new and interesting ways of creating work, working with new environments, and exploring elements that I would never have been able to do without the encouragement from my lecturers and the support of my peers. From that point on it became a major part of my practice and became more of first choice when the opportunity to exhibit work came my way.”
